Tuesday Idol Is Guys Night Out

February 28, 2011

Tonight is Guys night, and so begins a 3-night event for American Idol.    Tomorrow night, the 12 girls will perform, and the Results are on Thursday! Excited? Well here’s more!  A sneak viewing on Friday’s taping for Tuesday’s show, the songs for the 12 guys was revealed, below is the song lists for each contestant.

All press releases say the Finalists will be announced.  Does that mean that  the Top 12 (though rumor has it  there will be a 13th wild card member, but who knows) will be revealed and will that mean 12 people would be cut Thursday. Six guys, six girls?. Last season went from Top 24 to Top 20 this week. Anything is possible this season.

And, are you thinking of voting online?  Here’s how it will work:   You’ll have to log in to the voting system using your Facebook account info (speaking of, you already joined us on Facebook, right??), so if you don’t have that set up yet then get it ready now. Secondly, you have to be a U.S. resident (including Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands). Lastly, you’ll only have 50 votes allowed while phone and text messages (AT&T only) are unlimited voting. Once you’ve logged in on americanidol.com (NOT on facebook.com, but rather using your Facebook account info) you’ll select your vote on a voting page from a series of pictures, perform a verification (to make sure you’re not a bot), submit it, and then rinse & repeat.

And The Winner Is…..

February 27, 2011

OSCAR reared it’s solid gold figure Sunday night and here’s the major category winners.  I can never figure out why they don’t just do a special show for the designers, cinematographers, make-up artists, etc., and just have a 2 hour show with all the majors, it’s the reason everyone watches, besides seeing the red carpet fashions and presenters.

This year the show had double hosts:  Anne Hathaway and James Franco.  How do you think they did? Did you like the opening?  Which wardrobe change of Anne’s did you like betst?     Did your favorite win?  Who was the best dressed in your opine?   I noticed lots of color on the dresses this year.  Anne Hathaway – beautiful in the red and her hair looked elegant.  JHud in tangerine!  and I thought she worked it.  Sandra Bullock in red, becautiful, and do you think it’s crossing her mind that last year at this time her exes affair came to light?  Here’s a link for the red carpet walks – http://oscars.movies.yahoo.com/photos/150-2011-red-carpet-arrivals?nc

Let’s talk about it!

Best Supporting Actor:  Christian Bale – “The Fighter”

American Idol Top 24…

February 24, 2011
Wednesday night ,we saw 5 make it through and a surprise in the elimination of Chris Medina, the young man whose fiance was hurt in an accident.  Although, his singing was not consistently good, the elimination caused JL0 to break down.    Pictures of past Idol winners are behind the judges on the set: Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, and, I think, Kris Allen.   Next week the guys will perform first on Tuesday – then the ladies  on Wednesday.   Results show on Thursday – 3 nights of Idol.    Thursday night’s show, in order to drag it out for the full two hours,  was basically a look back on each contestant as they make the long walk, long walk (some called the “green mile”)  to the judges to learn if they leave happy or with long faces.

Here’s the top 24 for Season 10.

Did You Watch?

February 24, 2011

I didn’t. I got caught up with Survivor and America’s Next Top Model. I didn’t even think about Idol until after 11:00.

So, if you watched, tell us, WHAT HAPPENED? Were they any good? Was there any drama? Did any of your favorites get the boot? TELL US!

Happy Wednesday. Idol News

February 22, 2011

Well, are you ready, according to Nigel Lythgoe,  you will be able to place your ‘Idol’ vote via iPad, laptop or whatever the mobile computing platform of your choice might be!   Though the ‘Idol’ P.R. team quickly chimed in to say that the move isn’t confirmed, FOX was likely hoping to release the news via a hyperbolic press release. However, Nigel has apparently saved them the trouble.

Top 24 Spoilers Hit Web, Revealing a Few Shocking Eliminations, according to the folks at Joe’s Place.
I  won’t spoil you on it here (But if you don’t like surprises, head here)   A  couple of shocking eliminations are said to be on the way, one of which apparently brings J.Lo to tears! A little digging through the list should make the shocker pretty clear.

Nigel has also tweeted that  David Cook and Simon Fuller have been working on the “kiss-off” track for #AmericanIdol this Season.  Keeping it all in the Idol family it seems.

Another interesting tidbit is that  James Durbin, with his tears and his headband evidently sing the praises of prostitution; however TMZ has the video to prove it ( the damning video )  Can’t say for sure exactly what Durbin and his glam band, “Hollywood Scars,” have to say about ladies of the evenin  but it’s a subject matter the lyricist admittedly enjoys covering.

Oh, and here’s a behind the scenes video for JHud’s new video for her new song:  Where You At.  The music video, directed by Anthony Mandler, will premiere Thursday on BET’s 106 & Park and Vevo.com.

Is Your Invitation In The Mail?

February 21, 2011

Anticipation….for….the….wedding….of….the….year – The Royal Wedding.  Prince William and his commoner bride-to-be, Kate (Catherine)  Middleton.  Be checking your mailbox for your invitations.  I don’t know where they are registered – but it is rumored they will be living in an apartment – not a royal residence.    (allegedly,  Estibalis Chavez, a 19-year-old high school student is camped outside the British Embassy in Mexico City and says she has not eaten for more than a week — in hopes of attracting enough attention that the prince and his fiancee will hear of her efforts and invite her. A little crazy if you ask me.)    Here’s some of the particulars.  Will you watch it, if it is televised?

 1,900 people just received their invitations to the Royal wedding of  at where else, London’s own  Westminster Abbey on April 29. The heavy card bears the engraved gold insignia of the Queen of England.  It  was recently delivered to various VIPs from kings to charity leaders, close family and university friends, old schoolmates and prime ministers around the world, People reports.  The edges of the card, which is about 10 in. by 6 in., are beveled and then gilded. The simple wording reads that the Lord Chamberlain has been “commanded by the Queen” to invite the holder to the ceremony. Guests are asked to wear military uniform, a morning coat or a “lounge” (business) suit. 600 of the 1,900 invitees have also been invited by the Queen to a reception immediately following the ceremony, and 300 of those are also invited to a dinner hosted by William’s father, Prince Charles, later that evening at Buckingham Palace.

 Prince Harry will serve as his best man, and Kate’s sister Pippa gets the lofty title of maid of honor.  Details:   Kate will arrive at Westminster Abbey by car.    Middleton will use the coach for her parade with William from Westminster Abbey, at which point she’ll be a princess, to Buckingham Palace for an intimate lunch reception hosted by Queen Elizabeth II, the grandmother of the groom.  The ceremony is set to start at 11 a.m., with the Dean of Westminster, the Very Rev. John Hall, conducting the service and the Bishop of London, the Right Rev. Richard Chartres, giving the address.  There will be no queen’s ball in advance of the wedding; Charles will invite guests from the happy couple’s “personal and official” lives for a gala dinner and dancing that night.

Who were some of the people who got invites:  Britain’s nouveau royalty, David and Victoria Beckham, will be there. David Beckham and Prince William became friends when they were in South Africa together for the soccer World Cup.  Apparently, singer Kanye West has an invitation. William’s a big fan.  Sir Elton John, who famously sang “Candle in the Wind” at Diana’s funeral, is also on the guest-list.  And, yes, Prince Harry is bringing on-and-off girlfriend Chelsy Davy

There will be foreign royals, politicians, charity workers and William’s military buddies. After all, he is getting married in uniform.

“They are stressing the fact that this is not a state wedding, it’s a royal wedding, ” Nicholl said. “This is very much about their day.”

Happy Presidents Day!

February 20, 2011

If you work for the government, banks, post-office, you probably have the day off.  And if your young ones don’t have to make up snow days at school, they probably have the day off too.  However, if you are the remainder of the normal people, you are at work, Monday morning, having a wonderful time.  Lucky you!

And I will do everything that I can as long as I am President of the United States to remind the American people that we are one nation under God, and we may call that God different names but we remain one nation.

Thursday Idol Recap

February 17, 2011

I know I was supposed to go to the step class at the gym; however, I got a phone call that woke me up from my nap, and had a headache and figured it couldn’t get any worse, so I stayed home to watch Idol.

Hollywood Week began with 327 hopefuls.  Only the most promising contestants remain for tonights show – so says Ryan Seacrest.  100 contestants left for tonight’s show and when it’s over.  The Judges are busy working on the fates of the hopefuls.  Who will go through?  They sing with back up singers and music if they want or without and can use instruments.   We actually saw some new faces performing.  Ashton Jones who belted out “And I Am Telling You” and 15 year old Thia Megia who gave a nice rendition of “Wonderful World” (who it turns out was a semi-finalist on “America’s Got Talent” back in 2009 when she was 14) .  Why haven’t we seen these two prior to tonight?  Some dude,  Clint – with Harry Potter glasses, and a nice take on “Georgia”.  So that brought out highlights of everyone who chose to sing the same song.  Carson Higgins and Chris Medina both did “My Perogative” with a different take and I enjoyed Carson’s more.   Casey Abrams who certainly doesn’t have the Idol look, but he did a nice job on “Georgia” with his Bass giving it a smooth jazzy sound.    One girl had to drop out because of illness.  That’s stinks.  15 year old Stacy shines with a Tyler song.  New faces, that show there is some pretty good talent out there.  Jacob Lusk singing “God Bless the Child” brought the judges and all to their feet, then they show him crying offstage.  Okay.  Whatever.  Room 1 goes on.  Room 2 is not so lucky.  Room 3 didn’t make it either.  Room 4 makes it through too.   A new challenge awaits next week – the remaining take on the Beatles with only 24 hours to learn their songs – who will make the final 24?

Um. . .yeah

February 16, 2011

I can’t give an in-depth critique of the show because I wasn’t really watching. But it was basically typical Idol Hollywood week. People having problems forming groups, arguments among groups, groups thinking they were awesome and turned out to be terrible, people begging for another chance and lots of tears, a few standout performances and a couple drama queens.

Yep, that about sums it up. If you watched, what did you think?

I did notice that the usual American Idol marquee that shows up before commercial had a prominent IDOL behind it. Which led me to believe that maybe, just maybe they will drop the American and go strictly to Idol to allow contestants from other countries to compete against one another.

Hmmmmm. . .

It’s Official — I Have Baseball/Spring Fever

February 15, 2011

Spring fever, Spring is here at last
Spring fever, my heart’s beating fast
Get up, get out spring is everywhere

Happiness is, a wonderful week of Springlike weather!  And Baseball!  We got to watch my grandson’s first official baseball game as a Junior Varsity Player for his High School.  And  I realized, not only do I have Spring Fever because of the wonderful weather, but I have Baseball Fever too!  Is there a cure, I think only continued good weather and a steady does of baseball games will help the cure.  (The pitchers and catchers for the Rangers reported to training camp this week.)

What about you?  Do you have a fever too?

Well, beat the drum and hold the phone – the sun came out today!
We’re born again, there’s new grass on the field.
A-roundin’ third, and headed for home, it’s a brown-eyed handsome man;
Anyone can understand the way I feel.

Got a beat-up glove, a homemade bat, and brand-new pair of shoes;
You know I think it’s time to give this game a ride.
Just to hit the ball and touch ’em all – a moment in the sun;
(pop) it’s gone and you can tell that one goodbye!

Chorus:
Oh, put me in, coach – I’m ready to play today;
Put me in, coach – I’m ready to play today;
Look at me, I can be centerfield.
