Happy Spring Break Weeks

March 11, 2011

For the next two weeks, we will be celebrating Spring Break!  Yea, time for rest, fun in the sun, relaxation, no books, no tests, no driving to and from school, no early mornings, just time to reflect.  Here’s the post for the next two weeks.  Everyone contribute or pipe in when you want.  There will be no Idol recaps for the next 2 weeks, and anything else happening, just blog about it.  Free for all, and all for one!

HAPPY SPRINGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and St. Patty’s Day too)

Peace.

And We’re Down to 12…..

March 10, 2011

The “save” is back, as long as they, meaning the judges, use it before the final 5, did they use it last night, come on, you know they aren’t gonna use it right off the top.

The best part of the night …. Adam Lambert, live, with just a guitars.  Tell again, why he didn’t win?  Adam says the message is the most important part of the song.  Says Lambert;”[“Aftermath”]…was written about finding the courage to be honest with yourself and the people who love you. It’s about facing adversity and taking risks in the name of personal liberation. The song takes on different meanings to different listeners. I hope this song inspires people to be who they truly want to be… And dance!”

Some chat about the Dance remix and donations to the Trevor campaign.  Jennifer is doing the Dougie!  And now all the contestants are. Jlo says she’ll teach Adam how to Dougie later.

Ryan says, my favorite, Casey Abrams, will not be on the show tonight, in hospital.  Hope he’s okay.  30 million votes came in last night.

We see the Idols checking out the over the top BH mansion they will call home while competing.

Bottom 3 were:  Karen Rodriguez, Ashton Jones and Haley Reinhart

Going home, Ashthon Jones, the big hair Dianna Ross wannabe.  Not surprised, and she was one of the wild cards.  All the others should be worried, wild carders that is.  David Cook sings her home.  Bye, bye…

Next week, same ole, same ole.

American Idol This Week

March 8, 2011

In case you didn’t know, last week’s “American Idol” Top 24 performance was pre-taped.  You may think they are starting with live performances this week, but NOPE, and  Nigel Lythgoe himself, via Twitter, has confirmed it. It even sounds like Nigel is a little irritated with all the speculation the pre-taping is creating.  Nigel tweeted: “There is a load of crap being discussed all the contestants sing ‘live.’ The show has always been recorded to the West Coast. We are pre-taping for 2 weeks as we have a new Director & new judges. It has nothing to do with manipulation you morons.”  So looks like “live” performances will not start up until next week.  Here’s hoping they don’t manipulate by allowing contestants to fix any flubs during their performances.

The Wednesday show (8-10 pm) will showcase the contestants favorite artists.  That always turns out so well doesn’t it.  So, who do you think will go home this week?  Know the names and faces yet.  Will it be one of the wild card picks or ones that have already gotten fan votes.  I’m thinking it will be one of the wild ones.

This week on American Idol 2011,   Adam Lambert will be returning to the Idol spotlight on Thursday night to perform an acoustic version of “Aftermath”, so that’ll be a little different than his last laser-show visit.   Also that night we’ll get performances from Diddy-Dirty Money with Skylar Grey and the return of David Cook.

Cook will introduce this season’s new good-bye, out the door, leaving song, a remake of Simple Minds’ “Don’t You (Forget About Me).” You can hear the full version of Cook’s cover below, right after you finish burying your beloved 80’s memories in the backyard.  What do you think of his take on the song?  You may have to go to youtube to view it.

Happy Tuesday, Hope You Have a Good Day

March 7, 2011

Tuesday, one more day closer to Spring Break here and sleeping in.  Hope everyone has a great day.

The Truth is Out

March 6, 2011

I’ll bet you’ve been wondering….well, here’s the what, when, where and why:

ShopperpantsMrs.Chrissomethingorother:  She’s been seen coming out of the local WallyWorld with a case of hair dye cause working with those childrens has turned her completely gray.  Rumor has it there were multiple boxes of different colors – blond, red, purple, blue and green.  (secretly she was probably getting ready for mardigras).

Jexieeeeeee:  Burning the late night oils using quill and ink wells to begin her first of a long line of novellas and rumor has it the book is about these big hunky guys and some heroine named Jexifer rushing in to save them from total collapse from too much time in the gym.  Lots of steamyyyyy activity (come on now, it’s takes place in a the gym and those saunas are steamy).

Evieeee:  Being a closet Justin B, fan, she has been seen using her child and her child’s friends, taking them to see the new movie over and over and over again and in the office her attorneys are a little tired of hearing the CD played over and over… (I hear there this poster blow up of him in her boudoir and it’s kinda freaking hubby out).

Sunshineluvstoread:  Been seen around town with his Kindle in arms anxiously awaiting the new novellas being written by No. 2 above (although he’ll tell you he’s just reading the lasted Ken Follet novel – sure).

Kimtastic:  Has been seen in FlorIda secretly going to a bareall beach, so she can work on that tan all over feeling (it’s rumored there are pectoralis majors  in abundance at this beach – don’t let it out so hubby knows though).

JsNana: Has been spending time at the gym during the morning hours, looking for the hunky guys as a contributing source for the  novella in No. 2 above, and reports that the search is exhausting, but doesn’t mind helping (she’s fainted only 2x from the surprises).

Shaunsky:  He’s knee deep in diapers and has little time for fun these days.  (I’ve heard the neighbors says he’s gittchy gooing and has already posted a “keep out” sign for any young male babies).

Ara:  Rumor has it he’s been cruising around in the pimp mobile looking for a replacement for his No. 1 since she has disappeared (he’s just taking applications right now).

And The Top 10 plus wildcards are…..

March 3, 2011

Back row l-r: James Durbin, Naima Adedapo, Jacob Lusk, Thia Megia, Karen Rodriguez, Stefano Langone, Lauren Alaina. Front Row l-r: Paul McDonald, Ashthon Jones, Pia Toscano, Casey Abrams, Haley Reinhart, Scotty McCreery.

The typical results show…recaps from their last performances, critique from the judges, of course the Judges tell everyone how wonderful they are, and they may have had a bad night, but they are all good singers.  Ryan begins the process of elimination.  We don’t go through the typical your safe, your safe, he actually mixes it up this time.  I guess with 24, you have to do that.  The judges chose 3 girls and 3 guys to “sing for their supper” for a chance at the wildcard spot.     And to fill in the two hours for this results show, besides lots of commercial breaks to pay the bills, Jennifer Lopez introduced her new video, and David Cook’s boot song is unveiled, and it’s at the request of ‘Idol’ man-behind-the-curtain Simon Fuller, so Cook has recorded a somewhat-edgy update of Simple Minds’ “Don’t You (Forget About Me).”

So, here’s the lucky 13 breakdown, the ones that you have the opportunity to vote the next American Idol….lots of variety in this one, country, salsa, soul, pop, interesting mix.  Ladies and Gents, one of these will be the next American Idol – how will they do?

Scotty McCreery is in the Top 10

  • Jacob Lusk is in the Top 10
  • Casey Abrams is in the Top 10
  • Paul McDonald is in the Top 10
  • James Durbin is in the Top 10
  • Pia Toscano is in the Top 10
  • Lauren Alaina is in the Top 10
  • Karen Rodriguez is in the Top 10
  • Thia Megia is in the Top 10
  • Haley Reinhart is in the Top

American Idol 2011 Wild Card Judges Picks:

  • Ashthon Jones
  • Stefano Langone
  • Naima Adedapo

I Hope These Girls Had Fun

March 3, 2011

Once again I was in and out of Idol, so I don’t have detailed commentary. But from what I’ve seen, I think the pool of boys is more talented than the girls.

Ta-Tynisa Wilson with “Only Girl” by Rianana
Loud, screamy and screechy.

Naima Adedapo with “Summertime” The Old Gershwin song from Porgy and Bess
I like this girl. She’s different. Her voice was rich and I think she has a different style. Speaking of style, she mentioned that she made the dress she was wearing. I hope that’s not her day job.

Kendra Chantelle Campbelle sings “Impossible” by Christina Aguliera
Um. . .she’s cute, I guess?

Rachel Zevita is singing “Criminal” by Fiona Apple
This was a hot mess. I think her song choice was a very bad idea. She will definitely be gone this week. I don’t even remember her from Vegas, er, Hollywood week.

Karen Rodriguez – “Hero” in Spanish and English (Mirah Carey version)
She was really good. It was nice to hear something different. The bilingual touch was a wonderful idea.

Lauren Turner sings “Seven Day Fool by Etta James – Jully Black’s version
I didn’t catch her last name before she started singing, but while she was performing I thought, she reminds me of Tina Turner. That was funny. She has kind of a bluesy, soulful voice.

Ashthon Jones sings “Love Over Me” by Monica
I was disappointed in her. I saw her during Hollywood week and thought she was pretty good. This time I think she tried too hard to be sexy and forgot to sing.

Julie Zorilla sang “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson
Girl please! Don’t try to touch Kelly unless you’re really ready. Go buy some shoes and another Cinderella dress and keep it moving.

Haley Reinhart sings ” Fallin” by Alicia Keys
At first I was like, “Not again.” But she was ok. She did try to “make it her own.” I think her nerves got the best of her.

This Megia sings “Out Here On My Own” by Irene Cara
Surprisingly pretty good. She has a very strong voice and did the song justice.

Lauren Alania Suddeth sings “Turn on the Radio” by Reba McIntyre
Uh, what now? Very forgettable. The judges liked her.

Pia Toscano sings “I’ll Stand by You”
The judges went crazy over her performance, gave her a standing ovation. I remained seated.

I think its just time to put this thing to sleep. Does anyone have any propofol? What, too soon?

mjsbigblog posted the tentative American Idol schedule for the rest of the season!

You can say buh bye to the 1 hour performance show.

Idol performance shows will run 2 hours beginning next week until Wednesday April 6, when it cuts back to 90 minutes. A new FOX sitcom “Breaking In” will debut in the 9:30 time slot.

Then, it’s 90 minute performance shows until the finale. And here’s where it gets a little screwy.

The final performance show will air on TUESDAY MAY 24th at 8 pm and will run an hour (No Glee that night). The 2 hour and 7 minute Finale will air WEDNESDAY MAY 25.

Why? Because the last day of May advertiser sweeps is May 25. FOX can’t run any of it’s important programing past that date.

All shows, both performance and results will begin at 8 pm. Results shows will run an hour every week.
